HOW TO RELIEVE STRESS ?

How to Relieve Stress?

Chill Chill....Stress..

We all deal with it. Whether it be our jobs, family life, drama with friends, a relationship problem, or finances, stress is there. While a little stress is probably good for you, it's the excess that does the harm. But there are ways of relieving it.

Stop Stress And Anxiety:how?

  1. Take a deep breath. This is your first, most immediate defense against stress. If you can get in the habit of pausing and taking a nice, deep breath every time you feel stress beginning to take hold, you'll have won half the battle just by preventing it from taking over. The other half is won by addressing the causes of your stress.
  2. Communicate. Whether you talk to a friend or talk to your cat, getting it off your chest will help a lot. If you don't feel like talking about it, write it down. Keep a journal and write down whatever it is that's bothering you. Writing is a therapy of its own.
  3. Laugh. Rediscover your sense of humor by making fun of your situation. View it from your future self's perspective, telling this story to a bunch of your friends over pizza and soda. Crack some jokes. Do your goofiest impression. Tickle a child that you love. Laughter, whether it's yours or someone else's, is the best medicine--and it's contagious!
  4. Get fit. Perhaps your health and appearance are stressing you out, but even if they're not an issue, being physically fit can directly help relieve stress, which exists on both a mental and a physical level. Sometimes there's nothing like a long run, an intense yoga session, or a fresh swim after a stressful day to help you feel relaxed and stress-free again. Also, exercise releases endorphins; a feel good hormone. Chocolate releases endorphins as well (just only in moderation)!
  5. Be organized. For the most part, stress arises from feeling overwhelmed. There's just too much to do, and not enough time to do it. Being organized and getting your priorities straight can help you break responsibilities down into manageable pieces and focus on the things that really matter to you, rather than getting caught up in details and creating extra work for yourself--all of which leads to more stress.
  6. Soothe the senses. Light a scented candle that has a calming fragrance like lavender. Listen to your favorite, most relaxing music or, better yet, go somewhere that you can listen to wind rustle through trees or waves crash on the beach. Enjoy the scenery, whether you're outdoors or viewing an art exhibit. Drink some warm tea or taste--really taste--some dark chocolate. Treat yourself by getting a massage or, if you want to be alone, take a bath (bubbles are recommended).
  7. Be aware of your choices; you always have a choice.
  8. Learn to say no; you cannot do everything you are asked.
  9. Learn how to delegate.
  10. Be thankful. It does wonders for your state of mind.
  11. If you need to apologize to someone, and it will not make the situation worse, find a way to do so. More importantly, learn to forgive, particularly to forgive yourself. Guilt adds pain to stress.
  12. Do nothing. That's right, folks, do nothing at all. Close the door, open the window, have a seat, and take a little break from life. If your mind is racing, learn to meditate and just let that stress go.
  13. Listen to music; believe it or not, listening to music does wonders and is a great way to relieve stress. But don't listen to something that'll make you feel worse. Listen to good songs that get you in a happy mood; and just forget about your problem. Music is know to be a significant mood-changer and reliever of stress.

List of Additional Stress Reducers:

Note that not all stress reducing activities will work for all people. Experiment with different techniques to see what works for you.

  • Imagery meditation. Meditating, concentrating or just emptying your mind while viewing tranquil scenery, either real or in video clips can help your mind let go of anxiety filled thoughts.
  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
  • Self hypnosis
  • Indian head massage
  • Walk in the rain
  • Dance to relieve stress

Tips:

  • Relieving stress in the short term is a good idea, but resolving the underlying causes of stress is even better. If the same issues keep driving you up the wall time and time again, give some serious thought as to how they can be dealt with permanently. The following two examples illustrate the variety and usefulness of the self-help information which is available.
  • Rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) teaches that it is not what happens to you, but what you believe about what happens to you that makes you stressed and depressed. You can do a lot to get rid of these feelings on your own by finding the irrational ideas which produce them, and debating with yourself until you have cast them out. Here is list of potential culprits:

  1. I must be perfect in all respects in order to be worthwhile.
  2. I must be loved and approved of by everyone who is important to me.
  3. When people treat me unfairly, it is because they are bad people.
  4. It is terrible when I am seriously frustrated, treated badly, or rejected.
  5. Misery comes from outside forces which I can't do very much to change.
  6. If something is dangerous or fearful, I have to worry about it.
  7. It is easier to avoid life's difficulties and responsibilities than to face them.
  8. Because things in my past controlled my life, they have to keep doing so now and in the future.
  9. It is terrible when things do not work out exactly as I want them to.
  10. I can be as happy as possible by just doing nothing and enjoying myself, taking life as it comes.

  • In addition to getting rid of negative beliefs, it is necessary to acquire a set of positive ones, such as the following widely quoted Desiderata, written by Max Ehrmann in the 1920s:

  • Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
  • As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit.
  • If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
  • Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
  • Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.
  • Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
  • Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
  • Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Warnings:

  • Be wary of escapism. Do not alleviate stress by doing something that'll only make it worse in the long run (e.g. buying a new pair of expensive shoes when what's stressing you is debt).
  • Don't just suffer in silence.
  • Just as you would not hesitate to contact a physician for ongoing physical pain, you should not hesitate to contact a therapist for continuing mental pain.
  • A therapist is a professional problem solver, who can bring to bear all the insights of psychology to point out choices that you are not aware of.
  • Your physician may be able to prescribe medication to control anxiety and depression, or to help you to handle a particularly stressful situation.
  • Symptoms such as hearing voices that are not there, seeing things that are not there, or staying awake for several nights in a row, are signs of serious mental illness which require immediate psychiatric attention.
If you are feeling suicidal or feel like you might hurt yourself, get help immediately!

  • Call your local suicide prevention hotline, or the psychiatric hotline of a hospital in your area.
  • If you do not know where to call, your local police department will be able to provide you with assistance.

HOW TO EXERCISE AN OPEN MIND ?

How to Exercise an Open Mind:

Simply put, doing unique, random, different, and ridiculous things is a good way to exercise the mind and promote new ways of thinking about the world around us. One hour of increased brain activity via thinking a lot or experiencing new stimuli can make you smarter, more energetic, more creative, more sociable, and more open to new experiences and ways of thinking. Here are some of the endless numbers of activities that can stimulate your brain. The key ingredients are to be open to new experiences, and changes in previous ways of thinking about these experiences.

  1. Stimulate your ears differently. Try different music you haven't tried before: Classical, New Age, Zouk, Rap, Mariachi, Country, Afro-Blues. You don't have to like it at first, but if you keep an open mind, you can still find it interesting. Listen to a radio station you typically don't listen to.
  2. Stimulate your eyes in new ways. Go to a cheap or free art gallery. Even if you think it's bad art, it can still be stimulating and thought provoking.
  3. Learn about different people and lifestyles. A great gateway into this is Wikipedia, where you can read articles on a wide variety of practices, such as Swinging, Wicca, Christianity, the Green Party, Conservatism, Communism, Anarchism, Sunnis, Discordianism, Tutsis, and the Yakuza. Consider how many members they have worldwide. Volunteer with an organization that works with a community of people you are unfamiliar with.
  4. Learn something new, try basket weaving (click to enlarge image)
  5. Learn something new, try basket weaving (click to enlarge image)
  6. While waiting (in line at the bank, a coffee shop, a restaurant, the grocery store, or waiting for someone to pick you up, or a show on TV to start), ponder things, calculate, memorize. You can, for example, memorize digits of Pi (you can get to 50 in a matter of hours, 200 in a matter of weeks), try to remember all of your high school teachers' names, memorize Prime Numbers, get fast at reciting the alphabet backwards, the Greek alphabet (forwards and backwards), remember how many movies Tom Cruise has been in, try Doubling numbers, start at 1, to 2, to 4, to 8, till you get to larger numbers than you can handle.
  7. Take unusual classes. Find a community college or community-based educational program near you, pick up a catalog, and open your mind to learning things like Art History, Underwater Basket weaving, First Aid training, or Business Ethics. Your local university likely offers easy survey courses with no prerequisites, such as Meteorology, Nutrition, Japanese Pop Culture, etc. How awesome would it be to know basic Meteorology? You could even find unexpected topics such as Vampires and Werewolves. Learn different languages (Esperanto, Japanese, French, Arabic, Italian, Navajo, etc.) especially those with roots very different from your own.
  8. Join clubs based on things you have no knowledge of, such as a Scrabble Club, an Investment Club, etc.
  9. Watch movies in genres that you normally don't partake in, such as Cyberpunk, scary, Anime, documentaries, stand up comedy (Eddie Izzard, etc. Mitch Hedberg). IMDb is a great site to look for movies that other people enjoy. They break them down by genre as well. Remember to be open-minded about things you don't know about.
  10. Try New Crossword Puzzles.
  11. Try New Crossword Puzzles.
  12. Learn how to write backwards. Leonardo DaVinci, the quintessential Renaissance man and a jack-of-all-trades, wrote all of his notes backwards so that they could only be read with a mirror. Or try writing upside down. None of these is as hard as it might seem; you'll soon get the hang of it.
  13. Read back-wards or upside down as well!
  14. Watch shows that you don't watch or that you often discriminate against, even though you have never watched them. Do you hate the O.C.? Even if you still dislike it or find it comical, try it once or twice. Try a soap opera: It's fun! Try new genres, like science fiction or fantasy. Watch the Spanish channels; watch the religious channels; watch the Discovery channel; watch the Travel channel; or if you do watch all those channels, try not watching television at all for a week ... Thus, you will have the time to try everything else posted in this page!
  15. Build ridiculous things like radios, legos, robots, trebuchets.
  16. Walk backwards through your whole house. (But be extra careful not to trip over anything, or fall down the stairs)
  17. Restaurant to enjoy.
  18. Try foods you have never tried. Have you tried another country food? Think it's unhealthy? Do you know it's unhealthy? Look it up.
  19. Push the limits of your body. By using your body in new ways, you can learn more about yourself, and expand your mind. Learn to do a handstand. A back flip. A kip-up. Take martial arts classes. Try some Hip-Hop classes or learn a break dance move. Can you touch your toes? Work on it. Try skiing, snowboarding, jet skiing, Hang gliding, para sailing, surfing, and anything else that pushes the limits of your comfort zone!
  20. Attend churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, trade union meetings, places of worship and meditation that you never have. Read about and learn how to recognize cults or cult-like behavior and avoid them!
  21. Learn How to Spin a Pencil Around Your Thumb, solve a Rubik's Cube, or try Cup Stacking. Don't know what these are? Look them up. Learn!
  22. Face your fears! Are you computer-illiterate? Putz around on a computer for a while. Don't be scared. You won't break anything. Learn a programming language. Nothing is as hard as anyone makes it out to be. Build your own computer. Think it's hard? You'll never know until you actually do it. It's somewhat ridiculous how many HowTo's there are on building a computer.
  23. Learn to juggle. A great workout for your brain, eyes and reflexes. Are three balls too easy? Try four, or better yet, five. If you get extremely good, try 10! 20! 50! Think it's impossible? Keep an open mind. Just Try Try Try! Contact Juggling for a different challenge.
  24. Open your mind to other political or religious points of view. You may find it hard to stomach at first, but in time you might find a grain of truth in what your nemesis has to say. Even if you don't, you'll be able to argue with one of "them" much more intelligently. Here's a hard but effective method: take a controversial issue that you have a strong opinion about. Write an essay defending your opinion with as much evidence and actual citations as possible. Then write another essay defending the other side, again with evidence and citations, considering that side's arguments seriously and being scrupulously honest and putting in as much effort as you did the first essay.
  25. Try blocking out one of your senses. Do everyday things, like cleaning up your room or using your cell phone, with a blindfold. It puts things in perspective when you are forced to "create" new ways of doing things you've already figured how to do. You could also try using a different part of your body to do things, like write with your teeth or type with your toes.
  26. Play strategy games like Bridge, Checkers, Chess, Shogi and Go! It's the poetry of the mind!
  27. Travel - becoming an outsider really exposes a mind to new things. You can even do this travel inside your country or state! How well do you know your own city? Have you tried using only a bike, or only using your own two feet and public transportation? (Ever considered what it's like if that was the only means to get around, say if you were physically unable to drive around? Being a pedestrian once in a while will make you a better driver.) Go off the beaten path!
  28. Learn to read and write any language that you don't know. Here are a few ideas: Portuguese, Spanish, German, Arabic, Aramaic, Mandarin, Maltese, Cantonese, Russian, Latin, Welsh and Dutch.
  29. Learn to count in a different numeral base than the one you're used to (chances are you're using decimal), use binary (base 2), octal (base 8), duodecimal (base 12),hexadecimal (base 16), vigesimal (base 20 used in Mayan numerals) or another numeral system when you start getting familiar with basic operations, try converting from one system to another. Next step is mixing different systems in a single operation. For added fun do the next advice and throw some of that in this (one day you might be able to multiply rot13 encoded hexadecimal by xor'ed vigesimal.
  30. Learn classical cipher schemes and algorithms.
  31. Give some thought to the mysteries of the world. Which came first: the chicken or the egg? Or think about places like the Bermuda Triangle: why do so many people disappear? Check out books and sites on these strange topics.
  32. Search for something on Wikipedia, read the page then click on one of the links on the page you find interesting, read that page and carry on and on, eventually you'll have come across loads of new information and it gets you interested in loads of subjects.
  33. Also, you can go for a walk and mutter to yourself to stimulate the mind.
  34. Learn to play some musical instrument. Piano is very popular. Or try to learn playing african drum Djembe. You do not need to have the best instrument to start learning. If you have friend that can play some instrument - he/she will surly help you to start. Then you can join some class. Enjoy the playing!

Tips:

  • Be thrifty. Yeah, building a trebuchet is a $200+ project, so go for the Legos instead, Build-a-Lego-Trebuchet. If the university is $400 per credit, try a smaller college or community-based program where less money is charged for a similar experience.
  • Remember that "the perfect student is one who always stumbles but never falls." Don't give up! The Rubik's Cube probably looks somewhat impossible until you've solved the white cross. Go for it.
  • Every decision you make in life is based on your belief system. To open your mind, start to list your fundamental beliefs, and for each one ask yourself why you believe it. Then ask yourself whether you could imagine being you if you didn't exactly believe it any more, but believed something marginally different. Then marginally different from that. Pick a belief a week and work at it. Ask some really good friends what they believe and how they acquired their beliefs. Understand this - your belief system is absolutely unique to you. Your friend's belief system is unique to them. An open mind is comfortable with differences, and also a variety of lenses to view an issue.
  • Try to become more like an inquisitive child. Try to see everything as if it's the first time, and try to think about it in new ways. Think you know what a brick is? Really? What are they made of, exactly? How heavy is the average brick? How many different types of laying a brick wall are there? Is it possible to lay a cheese brick wall, using cheddar for bricks, and cream cheese for mortar?!

Warnings:

  • Be safe. Know your limits and push them gently.
  • When adding to this list, keep in mind that it is an instructional guide on how to exercise an open mind, NOT a list of weird stuff you can do.

THE SCIENCE OF ATTRACTION

There is a science of attraction. It is an Exact science, like algebra or arithmetic. There are certain laws which lead the process of attraction.Once a person learns and obeys these laws, he/she will attract anything with mathematical certainty.
There is a physiological foundation for positive thinking and its effect in creating the Attraction.
You may also recall that all matter is made up of atoms,up of atoms, and that each atom has a nucleus, around which orbit electrons.Electrons in atoms always orbit the nucleus in prescribed "orbitals" or energy levels that assures the stability of the ato.Electrons may be compelled to assume "higher" orbits by the addition of energy or may give off energy when they drop to a "lower" orbit.when it comes to "vibrations", if atoms are "aligned", they create a motive force, all pulling together in the same direction in much the same way as metals can be magnetized by aligning their molecules in the same direction. This creation of positive (+) and negative (-) poles is a fact of nature and science.Suffice to say, science has shown that if there are physical laws that can be observed and quantified in one arena, there are most probably similar laws in other arenas, even if they can't be quantified at this time.
So you see,the Attraction isn't fancy term or new-age magic. It is a law of nature that every atom of your being is in constant response to,whether you know it or not.

LAW OF ATTRACTION

"What is the cause and cure of a man's or a woman's problems on earth?" That is the foremost question ever formed in the human mind.Nevertheless, for the benefit of those who wish to investigate philosophical theories and thus, secure a logical basis for faith.
The most important mental and spiritual principal ever discovered is that you become what you think about most of the time.Your outer world is very much a mirror image of your inner world. What's going on outside of you is a reflection of what's going on inside you. You can tell the inner condition of a person by looking at the outer conditions of his or her life & it cannot be otherwise.
"Thoughts, Feelings and Desirea are the most powerful factors of the Law of Attraction".
